CAVILL AVENUE GROOVE
Beginning big band
Written for the Trinity Lutheran College Gold Coast Jazz Ensemble, this quasi-flex big band chart is named after the famous street running through the middle of Surfers Paradise. It features four parts playable by various combinations of horns, plus a standard guitar, keys, bass, and drum kit rhythm section. In a fun fusion funk-rock style featuring two distinct grooves (the street vibe at night, and during the day) that help develop beat anticipation confidence without the added complexity of performing in a swing style. The repeated solo section feature a woodwind (1st) and a brass instrument (2nd) with written out solos for inspiration. The guitar and bass will enjoy performing their easy groove features, and there is an optional ad-lib drum solo for all of those budding Dave Weckls! The published version also has additional optional flute, clarinet, and French horn parts. Available from sheetmusicdirect - however if in Australia, please contact Kara directly.
